Roger Soler

Roger Soler (born September 20, 1960 ) is a former Peruvian long-distance runner .

As a physical education scholar, he studied at Hancock Jr. College and then at the University of Texas at San Antonio . In 1984 he was nominated for the 5000 meter run of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles , in which he was eliminated in the preliminary round. The following year he set the current national record of 13: 55.1 minutes over the same distance.

Over the 42.195 km distance he came in 21st place at the Houston Marathon in 1986 and set another national record with 2:18:42 h. Two years later he improved this mark to 2:17:46 in the Boston Marathon and came in 23rd place. As a local hero, he won the San Antonio Marathon three times (1988, 1990 and 1992).

In 1989 he opened the sports store Soler's Sports, of which there were three branches in San Antonio in 2011.
