Roger Vigneron
Roger Vigneron (born December 9, 1937 in Eisden ; † March 23, 2002 in Pousset ) was a Belgian legal scholar , legal historian and university professor.
Life
Vigneron studied law at the University of Liège and was trained as an actor at the same time. After graduating in law in 1961, he worked as a research assistant to Claude Renard until 1964 . In 1964 Vigneron went to the former Belgian colony of the Congo , where he initially taught as a private lecturer, and from 1968 on as a full professor of civil law at the University of the Congo . In 1971 he returned to Belgium as conditions had become intolerable for white professors. He joined Renard again as an assistant, where Vigneron devoted himself increasingly to Roman law in order to succeed the retired Roger Henrion in his chair in Roman law in Liège . In this way his dissertation, which was completed in 1979 and accompanied by Fritz Sturm at the University of Marburg, entitled Offerre aut deponere , a work on default of acceptance, was created .
From 1981 until his death, Vigneron held a full professorship in Roman law at the University of Liège. During this time numerous treatises on Roman law were written. Vigneron also attached great importance to didactics. As early as the 1990s, he developed a computer-aided learning program on Roman law to get students excited about the subject. As part of this teaching program, he also produced six videos in which he provided an overview of the most important areas of Roman law. By broadcasting these videos on TV5 Europe , Roger Vigneron also gained notoriety beyond specialist circles.
