Rohracker is a district of the Baden-Württemberg state capital Stuttgart . Together with the districts of Hafen, Hedelfingen and Lederberg, it forms the southeastern district of Hedelfingen .

The residents of the district are still called Welschkorneber , as corn, or Welschkorn, used to be planted here and Welschkorn porridge was on the menu almost every day.

history

The neighboring community of Sillenbuch belonged to Rohracker for a long time and only became independent in 1819. In the course of the administrative reform of the state of Württemberg in 1818, Rohracker was assigned to the Cannstatt Oberamt , which was part of the Neckar District until its dissolution .

In 1923, Rohracker was assigned to the Stuttgart District Office after the Cannstatt Oberamts dissolved and was incorporated into Stuttgart on April 1, 1937 and then run as a district. Rohracker has been part of the Hedelfingen district since 1956. The vernacular term Welschkornhausen comes from the temporary cultivation of corn ('Welschkorn') in the Rohrackers vineyards.

traffic

Rohracker is connected to transport via the Hedelfingen exit of Bundesstraße 10 , the U9 and U13 tram lines (to Hedelfingen) and the 62 bus line.

Attractions

Bernhardskirche

In addition to modern housing developments, the townscape is characterized by lovingly restored half-timbered houses in the center around the village church.

  • Vineyard location Lenzenberg with vineyard houses, the last historical vineyard location in the city district that is still comparatively original. In contrast to the neighboring Hedelfinger Lage , the Rohracker Lenzenberg is not real estate - see also viticulture in Stuttgart
  • "Zum Waldhorn" inn from the 17th century with an attached Schiller bay window, in which Friedrich Schiller drank and dined and, according to tradition, wrote parts of his epic of freedom - The Robbers.
  • Evangelical Bernhardskirche, late Gothic church building from the 15th century
