Roland Altmann

Roland Altmann (born May 28, 1925 in Sprötau , † 2012 in Dortmund ) was a German painter , graphic artist , poet and essayist .

Life

Between 1950 and 1953 Altmann initially studied graphics at the Werkkunstschule Hannover . After the state examination, he attended evening studies at the Hanover Advertising School from 1952 to 1954 and then worked in the advertising industry and also worked as a painter, graphic artist and author and took part in over 120 exhibitions at home and abroad.

From 1982 to 1987 Altmann was the founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the association magazine of the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Westphalia, of which he was deputy chairman of the association from 1984 to 1987.

In 1999 Altmann became a member of the Academic Council of the Humboldt Society for Science, Art and Education .

Altmann was an honorary member of the artists' association "Dortmunder Gruppe", of which he was 2nd chairman from 1972 to 1980. He lived in Dortmund since 1955, where he died in 2012.
