Roland Eckert

Roland Eckert (born October 12, 1937 in Munich ) is a German sociologist and professor emeritus at the University of Trier .

Eckert studied philosophy , history , politics and sociology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , the University of Hamburg and the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . In 1968 he became an assistant at the Department of Sociology at the University of Tübingen. In 1973 he was appointed professor at the University of Trier, where he worked with a one-year break ( University of Cologne ) - now as an emeritus. Among other things, he is a member of the advisory board of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence at Bielefeld University .

One of his main areas of work is violence research . Eckert was involved in the preparation of the two periodic safety reports of the federal government.
