Roland Gebauer

Roland Gebauer (* 1955 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German Evangelical Methodist theologian , rector of the Reutlingen Theological University and holds a chair for the New Testament there.

Live and act

Gebauer completed a traineeship at the Evangelical News Agency Idea in 1976/77 and then studied Protestant theology in Frankfurt am Main and Erlangen until 1983 , before working there again for a year as an editor. From 1984 to 1993 he was a research assistant and academic advisor at the University of Erlangen. Between 1995 and 1998 he was pastor of the Methodist Church in Wetzlar . In 1987 he received his doctorate with his dissertation on The Prayer of Paul: Research History and Exegetical Studies . His habilitation followed in 1996 with his work on Paul as a pastor: an exegetical contribution to practical theology .

From 1997 to 2006 Gebauer worked as a private lecturer at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Since 1998 he has lectured as a professor for the New Testament at the Theological University in Reutlingen, where he was initially prorector from 2001 and its rector since 2013.

Gebauer is deputy chairman of the working group for evangelical theology , co-editor of the journal Theologie für die Praxis and author of a number of specialist literature .

Private

Roland Gebauer is married, has three children and lives in Reutlingen .
