Mathias Achatz (cook)

Mathias Achatz (* 1987 in Bogen ) is a German chef.

Life

Achatz comes from a family of restaurateurs in Welchenberg . The 16th century manor has been owned by the family since 1882. Around 1980 Mathias Achatz's parents Ingrid and Josef Achatz took over the estate in the fourth generation.

Mathias Achatz graduated from the Heinz Winkler residence in 2008 (two Michelin stars ) and cooked there for another year. In 2009 he moved to the Cheval Blanc restaurant at Peter Knogl's in Basel (two Michelin stars). In 2011 he cooked at La Maison Troisgros with Michel Troisgros in Roanne (two Michelin stars). From May 2012 until he attended the master school in Regenstauf . In February 2013 he moved to the Amador restaurant at Juan Amador in Mannheim (three Michelin stars), followed by another year at Heinz Winkler.

Since February 2015 he has been head chef at his parents' Landgasthof Buchner in Welchenberg, which was awarded a Michelin star in November 2015.

His younger brother Andreas (* 1989) has been a restaurant specialist and sommelier in his parents' business since November 2013. He also worked in the Michelin-starred restaurant for Heinz Winkler and Christian Bau .
