Roland Kentsch (born January 3, 1957 in Soest ) is a German football official. He is Deputy Chairman of the Bundesliga Foundation . The former managing director of the football clubs Arminia Bielefeld and MSV Duisburg was also a board member of the German Football Association (DFB) .

Life

Since taking office as managing director of DSC Arminia Bielefeld GmbH & Co. KGaA, the graduate economist has been responsible, among other things, for the final expansion of the football department's stadium, the SchücoArena . After the club's relegation from the Bundesliga in the summer of 2009, Kentsch was released as managing director of the finance division of the KGaA and also resigned as a member of the board of the club, where he was also to act as treasurer. The criticism was directed primarily against him in connection with the financing of the construction of the stadium's stands. As a result, debts in the tens of millions were determined. Kentsch had to face investigations by the public prosecutor and the suspicion of embezzlement. The association came to the brink of bankruptcy and missed the rise, a point deduction was imposed due to incorrect information in the licensing process. At the end of the following 2010/11 season , the club was relegated to the 3rd soccer league .

Since March 5, 2010 Kentsch has been employed as managing director at MSV Duisburg. He succeeded Björn Bremer, who was released at the end of 2009. On May 29, 2013, the DFL decided to deny MSV Duisburg the second division license for the 2013/14 season . On June 13, 2013, Kentsch was released.

Roland Kentsch was chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Herford and a member of the Herford city ​​council, in which he was deputy parliamentary group chairman of the SPD until March 2010. In October 2009, the SPD local association Friedenstal / Stiftberg proposed Kentsch as a constituency candidate for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 , but he did not take part in the election. On January 24th, 2014, Kentsch lost his position on the list, believed to be safe, for the upcoming local elections in Herford in a battle vote. As a result, he resigned his council mandate with immediate effect a week later.

Kentsch is editor of the book Not only goals count , in which the role of the social responsibility of football clubs is illuminated.

Roland Kentsch is married and has two sons.
