Roland Schnell

Roland Schnell (* 1921 ; † October 8, 1980 in Karlsruhe ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Career

Roland Schnell was German road champion in the 350 class on a Parilla in 1951 before Hans Baltisberger ( AJS ) and in 1952 before Ewald Kluge ( DKW ) . In 1949 he was able to take second place in the 350 category of the German championship, behind Siegfried Wünsche (DKW) and ahead of Wilhelm Herz ( NSU ). He tied on points with Wünsche but was placed second.

In 1951 Schnell took second place behind Hans Baltisberger in the races on Feldberg im Taunus , but won in Dieburg , the Eilenriederennen in Hanover , the Rhein-Pokal-race in Hockenheim and the Eifelrennen on the Nürburgring .

In 1952 Schnell competed in the World Cup of Nations on the high-speed railroad in Monza, Italy, and finished sixth in the 350cc race, which earned him a world championship point.

In 1953 he supplied 16 other racing drivers with a 350 cc Horex that he had tuned . The machine became known as Schnell-Horex .

Roland Schnell died in Karlsruhe in 1980.
