Roland Stigulinszky

Roland Stigulinszky (born April 29, 1926 in Saarbrücken ) is a German graphic artist , caricaturist and satirist . He signs his works with the abbreviation stig.

Life

After visiting the Saarbrücken Horst Wessel School, today's Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Stigulinszky 1943 graduated from the National Political Educational Institute in Koszalin be Notabitur . Then he was drafted into the Air Force . In the same year 1943 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets , from which he was released in 1946. From 1947 he worked initially as a freelance commercial artist and copywriter. From 1948 to 1953 he worked for the Saarland satirical magazine Der octopus . He also worked a. a. for the television station Telesaar , the satirical magazine Pardon , the youth magazine Twen , the Süddeutsche Zeitung and for the Saarbrücker Zeitung . Stigulinszky was president of the Association of German Graphic Designers from 1967 to 1969 , chairman of the collective bargaining association for self-employed design studios (SDSt) from 1977 to 1980 and president of the German Designer Day from 1982 to 1985.

For his 85th birthday he published the volume of poetry “The apples redden themselves”. 2013 there were in Sulzbach through a collaboration of the Kunstverein and the city in the Sulzbacher Gallery exhibition "Roland Stigulinszky - sectional and retrospective", which provided an overview of its more than sixty years of work as a graphic artist, cartoonist, satirist and poet. Among them was his first commissioned work from 1947, which he made after his return from Soviet captivity. For his Iron Wedding with his wife Bruni, Stigulinszky published the volume of poetry "Iron Wedding - Stainless Poems".

Stigulinszky has been a holder of the Saarland Order of Merit since 1987 .
