Roland Verreet
Roland Verreet (* 1950) is a Belgian graduate engineer and expert for wire ropes . He is recognized by experts as the "rope pope".
Live and act
Verreet studied engineering in Aachen and was then technical director at a rope manufacturer in Saarland for ten years . He then founded an engineering office for conveyor technology in Aachen . He rented a large hall to conduct experiments there. He sold all of the patents he received so that he could try new things.
Verreet lectures regularly in the USA . In 2018 he will speak at the Association of Wire Rope Manufacturers near Scottsdale on the subject of "Wire Rope: From Fiber to Steel - and Back to Fiber?" His wire rope seminars are booked from Dubai to Düsseldorf , from Stavanger to Sydney , in London , Las Vegas and Buenos Aires .
Roland Verreet was involved in
- the catapult of Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris ,
- the development of the highest vertical lifting bridge in the world, Pont Gustave Flaubert ,
- the construction of lifting cranes from NASA and
- the construction of the largest land crane in the world, the Demag CC 8800 Twin
Verreet used to play drums in Marius Müller-Westernhagen's band.
Verreet has been married to his wife Regine for 40 years and has two grown-up sons with her. The couple live in Aachen- Richterich .
