Rolando Palacios

Rolando Cruz Palacios Castillo (born May 3, 1987 in Sambo Creek , Atlántida Department , Honduras ) is a Honduran athlete. His special routes are the 100 and 200 meter run and the 60 meter run in the hall.

Life

Rolando Palacios first appeared at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1995 , but was eliminated over 100 m in the preliminary run. It was the same for him at the 2006 and 2008 World Indoor Championships in the 60-meter run. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , he competed over 100 m and 200 m. Over 100 m he came out of the first round with fourth place in his prelim, but over 200 m after third place in his prelim he was able to reach the quarter-finals of an international championship for the first time. There it was enough in the first quarter-finals in 20.87 s but only to seventh place and he was eliminated.

His first major success came somewhat surprisingly at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade . In 10.30 s he won the gold medal over 100 m in front of the Egyptian Amr Seoud and Masashi Eriguchi from Japan. He finished fourth over 200 m in 20.78 s. Only about a month and a half later, the next major event was about to take place in Berlin, the 2009 World Athletics Championships . Here he showed himself to be further improved and for the first time survived the 100 m run at World Championships. In 10.24 s he finished sixth in the subsequent quarter-finals. It went even better over 200 m. With good performances he was able to advance to the semifinals, in which he finished seventh in 20.67 s.

Rolando Palacios holds the Honduran national records over 100 and 200 m. He is 1.86 m tall and has a competition weight of 78 kg.
