Rolf Jäger

Rolf Jäger (born October 17, 1949 ) is a German table tennis player . In 1971 he became German champion in doubles.

Career

Jäger played in many clubs during his career. He was twice involved in winning a German team championship: 1971/72 with Mettmanner TV and 1975/76 with VfB Altena . He helped the Stuttgarter Kickers to get promoted to the First Bundesliga in 1981/82 .

In 1971 he and Jochen Leiß were German champions in doubles in Hanover, ahead of the defending champions Lieck / Ness . With Lieck he was runner-up in 1976, as well as in 1980 with Michael Krumtünger . In the national ranking tournament , he finished fifth in 1972 and 1973 sixth. Around 1974 he was invited to the national team. In an official competition against Austria, he contributed three wins to a 5: 3 win. An injury in a car accident in 1974 put a brake on his career.

Jäger studied business administration. He is married and has two daughters and three sons. His younger brother Wolfgang also reached Bundesliga level.
