Rolf Niehus

Rolf Niehus (* 1966 in Wittmund ) is a former German basketball player .

Life

Niehus learned to play basketball in Cuxhaven , later he played in Bremerhaven and at UBC Münster . In 1987 he moved from Münster to Bundesliga club MTV Gießen , for whom he played in the 1987/88 season and was also represented in the European club competition Korać Cup . The 1.96 meter tall winger also appeared in the Bundesliga in 1988/89 with SG FT / MTV Braunschweig and played for the Oldenburg TB in the 2nd Bundesliga between 1990 and 1996 . In addition, he was in charge of youth teams in Oldenburg from 1990, and the later Bundesliga player Jan Niklas Wimberg was one of his protégés . In 2013, Niehus took over responsibility for the male youth division in the basketball department of the OTB. In 2015 Niehus, who worked full-time as a teacher, became head of the basketball department of the Oldenburg TB and held this position until he moved to Emsland in 2017. As OTB basketball department manager, he was also a member of the advisory board of the Bundesliga club EWE Baskets Oldenburg .
