Rolf Schäfer

Rolf Schäfer (born June 12, 1931 in Stuttgart ) is a retired German church historian and senior church councilor as well as former deputy bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg .

Life

Rolf Schäfer completed his theology studies in Tübingen , Göttingen and Zurich in 1959 with a dissertation on Christology and morality in Melanchthon's early loci . After his vicariate , he was a repetent (seminar lecturer ) at the Tübingen monastery from 1960 to 1964 . In 1967 he received his habilitation in systematic theology at the University of Tübingen with a thesis on Ritschl - the basics of an almost lost dogmatic system . From 1964 to 1971 he was a parish priest in Täbingen . From 1971 until his retirement in 1994, Rolf Schäfer was a member of the Upper Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg, and since 1981 also deputy to the Bishop of Oldenburg.
