Rolf Schmidt (born October 31, 1963 in Berlin ) is a German sailor.

Life

In 1984 Schmidt won the German championship of the 420 class on the Dümmer See as a bow . Two years later he won the French championship before Hourtin . In 1987 he was again German champion on the Berlin Wannsee . In the same year he also became vice European champion on the Hungarian Lake Balaton . At Medemblik he won the World Cup for the first time in 1990, and a year later at Brisbane for the second time. In 1991, 1992 and 1993 he also won the championship championship on the Alster in Hamburg .

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​he reached eighth place. In 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1995 he was also German champion, again in different boat classes.

In 1991 he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf - the highest award in German sport.
