Rolf Weibel

Rolf Weibel-Spirig (* 1939 ) is a Swiss theologian and specialist journalist.

Weibel studied cultural studies and received his doctorate in Catholic theology in 1971 with Heinrich Stirnimann at the University of Freiburg .

For almost three decades, Weibel headed the official organ of the German-speaking dioceses, Die Schweizerische Kirchenzeitung (SKZ), as editor-in-chief. At the end of 2004, he gave up this post when he reached retirement age.

He is a member of the Religion Research Committee of the Swiss Sociological Society . He has also been a permanent employee of Herder Correspondence since 1975 .

For Mariano Delgado , Weibel is “perhaps the most detailed connoisseur of the Council reception in Switzerland”.
