Roman Kononenko (born April 13, 1981 in Simferopol ) is a former Ukrainian track and road cyclist .

Career

Roman Kononenko won the silver medal in the individual pursuit and gold in the team pursuit at the U23 European Track Cycling Championships in Büttgen in 2002 . The following year, the Ukrainians were able to defend their U23 European championship title. In 2004 the Ukrainian four-man with Kononenko, Volodymyr Djudja , Vitaliy Popkow and Volodymyr Sahorodnij won the World Cup in Moscow . In 2006 Kononenko won the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the World Railroad Championships together with Djudja, Lyubomyr Polatajko and Maxym Polishchuk . On the road, Kononenko was successful on a section of the Thuringia Tour in 2008 . In 2010 he contested his last race with the Tour of Bulgaria .
