Volodymyr Sahorodnij ( Ukrainian Володимир Загородній , scientific transliteration Volodymyr Zahorodnij ; born June 27, 1981 in Simferopol ) is a former Ukrainian cyclist .

Career

Volodymyr Sahorodnij was U23 European champion in team pursuit on the track in 2002 and 2003 . With the Ukrainian national team, he won the 2003 World Cup in Cape Town and 2005 in Moscow

On road cycling , Sahorodnij won his first competitions on the international calendar in 2006 with the general classification and a stage of the Giro di Cosenza and became Ukrainian road racing champion .

After Sahorodnij drove as a stagiaire at the UCI ProTeam at the end of the season in 2005 and 2006 , he received a regular contract with the Professional Continental Team OTC . In 2007 he defended his Ukrainian championship title in this team's jersey and in 2008 won a stage each of the Giro del Trentino and the Tour of Qinghai Lake . At the beginning of the 2009 season, Sahorodnij moved to the Italian ProTeam Lampre-NGC , which he left after a year. In the next few years he rode with smaller teams and won a stage of the Tour of Borneo in 2012 and the team time trial of the Romanian Cycling Tour in 2013 .

In 2015 Sahorodnij ended his cycling career.
