Roman Vonášek (born July 8, 1968 in Strakonice ) is a former Czech football player and current functionary.

Career

Roman Vonášek started playing football at the age of eleven with Sokol Bělčice . At the age of 13 he moved to TJ Blatná , two years later to Spartak Písek . He spent his military service with three clubs: three months he played for RH České Budějovice , another quarter in with the second team of RH Cheb , and a year and a half for RH Okula Nýrsko . During this time both Dynamo České Budějovice and Škoda Pilsen contacted the striker, who decided to move to Pilsen .

After two and a half years in the second division Vonášek was obliged by Sparta Prague in January 1992 , where he was first converted to a midfielder and then a defender. He made his debut for Sparta Prague, after a brief league appearance , against FC Barcelona in the Champions League over ninety minutes, and thanks to an extraordinary performance by Vonášek , the Prague team won 1-0. In the last season in Czechoslovakia , Sparta Prague was able to secure the title and also won the Czech Cup .

In the national team Roman Vonášek made his debut on February 23, 1994 in Istanbul . It was the first international match of the independent Czech Republic, which won 4-1. Seven more missions for the Czech Republic followed, the last on February 9, 1999 in Belgium of all places . The Czechs won 1-0 in Brussels with a goal from Jan Koller .

After two more championship titles and a cup win, Vonášek moved to the Belgian league for KSC Lokeren . With Jan Koller, Václav Budka and the goalkeeper Jan Musil , three other compatriots played in Lokeren and formed a small Czech colony. After six years in which Vonášek played regularly in defensive midfield, he left the club in a dispute in 2002 and played for Cercle Bruges from then on . In summer 2003 he moved to KV Mechelen , who had been relegated to the third division and was able to play for promotion to the second Belgian division despite deducting nine points.

In 2004 Vonášek finally returned to the Czech Republic and joined the fourth division TJ Klatovy , at the same time he was an assistant coach. After two years, he moved to the club's management in the summer of 2006, but when time allowed, he played for the sixth-class Sokol Křimice. He also held an administrative position with the Czech national team. From January 2007 to January 2008 he was head of the first division team of Viktoria Pilsen . Since June 2008 he has been the secretary of the youth commission at the Czech Football Association.
