Roman Hryhorowytsch Wiktjuk ( Ukrainian Роман Григорович Віктюк , Russian Роман Григорьевич Виктюк / Roman Grigorievich Wiktjuk , English transcription Roman Viktyuk * 28. October 1936 in Lviv , Poland , † 17th November 2020 in Moscow , Russia ) was a Ukrainian - Russian theater director , Actor and screenwriter .

Life

In 1956 Wiktyuk graduated from the State Institute for Theater Arts in Moscow and then worked at theaters in Lviv, Kalinin , Tallinn , Vilnius , Minsk , Kiev and Moscow. From the mid-1970s he began staging theater plays in Moscow. In 1991 he founded a private theater named after him in Moscow and became its artistic director and director. He was also a professor at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts in Moscow.

Roman Wiktjuk died on November 17, 2020 after being hospitalized with a SARS-CoV-2 infection on October 27 .
