Romuald Božek (born February 6, 1814 in Prague ; † April 30, 1899 there ) was a Czech inventor and designer .

Life

The younger son of the Czech inventor Josef Božek first attended high school, then studied at the Philosophical Faculty and at the Polytechnic Institute in Prague .

Božek's time as a technician began in the early 1830s when he started working in his father's workshop. His main focus was the practical application of mechanics theory. The design of waterworks and the construction of water machines represented a significant part of Romuald Božek's technical work. After the project of technical systems for the waterworks on Sophie Island in Prague and its implementation in 1854, Romuald Božek became the inspector of Prague Transfer waterworks.

His later active participation in the reconstruction of the Prague astronomical clock from 1410 is proven by his tower clock designs, which were made before the reconstruction in 1864.
