Romuald Rappaport (born August 28, 1898 in Stanislau , Austria-Hungary , † October 16, 1948 in Katoomba , Australia ) was an Austrian film manager and film producer.

Live and act

Rappaport, who came from the old Austrian region of Galicia , came to Vienna early . There he acquired his film skills from scratch, and later he also worked for the UFA . Finally, Rappaport was appointed by the American Universal Studios to head the Eastern European branches in Vienna. Since Universal was no longer able to produce in Germany in 1934 and also in Austria from 1936 onwards, since the Austrian and Hungarian race laws were subject to Nazi German anti-Semitic guidelines, Romuald Rappaport was de facto unemployed.

Although he founded Rora-Film, Vienna-Budapest in 1936, he was only able to produce one film with his tiny company: the children's story “Mircha”, which was also awarded under the titles “The Little Cavalier” and “Bubi”. Rappaport then moved to Paris in May 1937. The Austrian finally emigrated to Australia, where he died at the age of 50 in October 1948 in a small town in the middle of the Blue Mountains .
