Ron McKay

Ron McKay (* ca. 1929 † 3. May 2013 ) was a British jazz - drummer (also washboard and vocals ).

McKay played in the early 1950s with Cy Laurie , with whom the first recordings for Esquire Records were made in 1954 ; then he toured Denmark with Bob Wallis. From 1957 he was a member of Mr. Acker Bilk's Paramount Jazz Band , with whom he made several guest appearances in Germany. In the 1970s he played with Max Collies Rhythm Aces , then with the French Quarter Band and his own bands, and in the early 2000s with Phil Mason's New Orleans All-Stars . Most recently he lived in Manchester , where he died in a nursing home at the age of 84.

McCay was involved in 110 recording sessions between 1979 and 2010, including a. also with Terry Lightfoot .
