Ronald Thomas (tennis player)

Ronald Victor Thomas (born August 7, 1888 in Hammond , South Australia , † December 30, 1936 in Adelaide ) was an Australian tennis player.

Life

Thomas, who was born in the small town of Hammond in the Flinders Ranges in 1888 , took part in the Australian championships from 1911 .

During the First World War he served as an orderly officer from January 1918 .

After the war, he won in 1919 on the side of Pat O'Hara Wood the doubles competition at Wimbledon and at the Australian Championships. A year later he was able to defend the double title of the Australian championships.

At the Olympic Games in 1920 he took part in the individual competition, but was eliminated against the Belgian Jean Washer in the first round. He last took part in the Australian championships in 1931.

He died in 1936 at the age of 48 years in Adelaide in the district of Kensington Park .
