Kensington Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County in the US state of Florida with 3901 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Kensington Park borders the city of Sarasota in the south and is about 80 km south of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3901 inhabitants were distributed among 1787 households. The population density was 1182.1 inh / km². 82.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 7.1% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 5.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 26.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 35.2% of all households lived in 29.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 63.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.55 people and the average family size was 3.10 people.

24.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 48.8% of the population were male and 51.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,051, with 22.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 89.49% of the population, 8.98% spoke Spanish and 1.53% spoke German .
