Venice Gardens is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County in the US state of Florida with 7,104 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Venice Gardens is about 25 km southeast of Sarasota and about 100 km south of Tampa . The CDP is affected by the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 7,104 inhabitants at the time were distributed over 4,094 households. The population density was 1127.6 inh / km². 94.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.9% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 1.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.3% to several ethnic groups. 5.0% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 18.5% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 46.7% of all households. 62.9% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.12 people and the average family size was 2.57 people.

15.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 16.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 40.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 54 years. 46.9% of the population were male and 53.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 44,291, with 8.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 97.17% of the population, 1.38% spoke Spanish and 1.45% had another mother tongue.
