Lake Sarasota is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County in the US state of Florida with 4679 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lake Sarasota is about 10 km southeast of Sarasota and about 80 km south of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 4679 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1845 households. The population density was 1336.9 inh / km². 91.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 2.5% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 2.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 9.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 39.0% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 19.8% of all households. 76.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.75 people and the average family size was 3.08 people.

27.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 49.5% of the population were male and 50.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 60,731, with 5.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the native language of 94.49% of the population, 4.89% spoke Spanish and 0.61% spoke Dutch .
