Ronja Steinborn

Ronja Steinborn (* 24. December 1990 in Berlin as Ronja Döring ) is a German modern pentathlete . Her greatest successes at European championships are winning the bronze medal in the team in 2013 and second place in the 2016 season . In 2017 Steinborn became world champion in the mixed relay. In 2018, she won silver in the women's relay at the World Championships . Her strongest disciplines are riding and the final combined competition.

Career

Ronja Steinborn started the modern pentathlon in 2001 in her hometown Berlin. Until her Abitur in 2011, she attended the Berlin Poelchau Oberschule ( elite school of sports ). In 2007 she was European Youth Champion in Vilnius, both individually and in a team. At the Junior World Championships in Taiwan in 2009, she won the relay title.

In the senior sector, Steinborn took part in the European Championships from 2012 to 2019, where she was always able to reach the finals. In 2013, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Drzonków, Poland, in a team competition with Annika Schleu and Lena Schöneborn . Through her performances at the World Cups in the 2014 season, she qualified for the World Championships in Warsaw. In May 2015 Steinborn became German runner-up in Berlin when she had to admit defeat to Lena Schöneborn. She thus qualified for participation in the 2015 World Championships , which took place in her hometown of Berlin. In the same year she finished 12th at the Military World Games 2015 in South Korea . In the mixed relay at the 2016 World Cup in Moscow, she reached seventh place together with Fabian Liebig . In the same year she and her relay colleague Janine Kohlmann won the silver medal at the European Championships in Sofia and was again German runner-up. She also finished seventh at the World Military Championships.

In 2017 Steinborn achieved good results at the World Cup in Drzonków and the World Cup final in Vilnius with places 9 and 13 and was therefore nominated for the European Championships in Minsk and the World Championships in Cairo. After the European Championship was quite disappointing, Steinborn became world champion in the mixed relay together with Alexander Nobis in Cairo .

The following year, she only had to admit defeat to her training partner Annika Schleu at the German Championships. A short time later Schleu and Steinborn formed the German relay team at the World Cup in Mexico and won silver. In 2019 the German Championships took place as part of the " Finals - Berlin 2019 ". There Steinborn was able to win silver again behind Annika Schleu.

Steinborn was a member of the Bundeswehr's sports promotion group until March 2019 . She studies sports science at the Humboldt University in Berlin and is the daughter-in-law of Fred Steinborn .
