Fred Steinborn

Fred Steinborn (born December 21, 1962 in Erfurt ) is a former soccer player who was active at FC Carl Zeiss Jena , BSG Sachsenring Zwickau , BSG Wismut Gera and in the junior national teams of the GDR.

In 1976 he switched to the junior division of FC Carl Zeiss Jena, from then on played in the Jena youth and junior teams and attended the children's and youth sports school . The 1.78 m tall midfielder and attacking player made his first appearance in the first team on April 25, 1981 in the away game at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt (0-0). For FC Carl Zeiss Jena, Steinborn played 19 games (2 goals) in the GDR Oberliga and two games in the FDGB Cup . After the first half of the 1985/1986 season he moved to BSG Sachsenring Zwickau, which at that time also played in the GDR Oberliga. For the 1989 season, Steinborn moved to BSG Wismut Gera, where he let his active career end.

Steinborn continues to play football in the traditional team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
