Cretas ( Catalan : Cretes or Queretes ) is a Spanish municipality in the province of Teruel in the Autonomous Region of Aragón . It is located in the foothills of the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit in the Comarca Matarraña (Matarranya) in the predominantly Catalan-speaking area of the Franja de Aragón between the Rio Matarraña and the Río Algars and the municipalities of Calaceite and Valderrobres on the border with Catalonia . On January 1, 2019, the community had 567 inhabitants.
history
Stone Age cave drawings can be found in the area of the municipality. There are also traces of Iberian settlement . With the Reconquista the place came to the order of Calatrava .
traffic
Cretas is on the A-1413 road. Another street leads to the neighboring town of Lledó . The Vía Verde de la Val de Zafán cycle path was established on the former railway line .

- The Assumption Church, which has been a listed building since 2001, has a Mannerist facade.
