Torrevelilla ( Catalan : La Torre de Vilella ) is a Spanish municipality in the province of Teruel in the Autonomous Region of Aragón . It is located around 17 kilometers south of Alcañiz in the Comarca Bajo Aragón (Baix Aragó) in the predominantly Catalan-speaking area of Franja de Aragón . On January 1, 2019, the community had 186 inhabitants.
geography
The community lies on a plain at the foot of the Sierra de San Marcos.
history
In 1611 the parish was established. The place was under the order of Calatrava and was constituted as an independent municipality in the 19th century. The place suffered damage during the Spanish Civil War.
language
The Catalan dialect (Parlar d'Aiguaiva) spoken here and in the municipalities of La Cañada de Verich , Aguaviva and La Ginebrosa has some peculiarities.
economy
Agriculture mainly produces olives, almonds and cereals, pigs, poultry, goats and sheep are also raised.
