Bajo Aragón ( Catalan. Baix Aragó , to dt. Lower Aragon ) is a comarca ( administrative unit ) of the autonomous region of Aragon in Spain . It is located in the northeast of the province of Teruel and has an area of ​​1,304.30 km² 28,563 inhabitants (as of 2019). The capital is Alcañiz , the largest of the 20 associated municipalities.

The comarca originated in 2003 when the original Comarca Matarraña was divided into the Comarcas Matarraña , Bajo Aragón and Bajo Aragón-Caspe . The Bajo Aragón borders in the west on the comarcas Bajo Martín and Andorra-Sierra de Arcos , in the north on Bajo Aragón-Caspe, in the east on the comarca Matarraña and in the south on the province of Castellón and the comarca Maestrazgo .
