Cuencas Mineras
Cuencas Mineras (to German about mining basin ) is a comarca ( administrative unit ) of the autonomous region of Aragon in Spain . It is located in the center of the province of Teruel and has 9,604 inhabitants on an area of 1,407.6 km². Its main towns are Montalbán and Utrillas , the largest of the 31 associated municipalities.
The comarca borders in the west on the Comarca del Jiloca , in the north on the Campo de Belchite , in the east on the comarcas Bajo Martín , Andorra-Sierra de Arcos and Bajo Aragón and in the south on the Comunidad de Teruel and the Maestrazgo .
In addition to Utrillas and Montalbán, the municipalities of Alcaine , Aliaga , Anadón , Blesa , Cañizar del Olivar , Castel de Cabra , Cortes de Aragón , Cuevas de Almudén , Escucha , Fuenferrada , Hinojosa de Jarque , La Hoz de la Vieja , Huesa del Común , Jarque belong de la Val , Josa , Maicas , Martín del Río , Mezquita de Jarque , Muniesa , Obón , Palomar de Arroyos , Plou , Salcedillo , Segura de los Baños , Torre de las Arcas , Villanueva del Rebollar de la Sierra , Vivel del Río Martín and La Zoma to the comarca.
According to their name, the Cuencas Mineras are a traditional mining region in which hard coal , brown coal , iron ore , gypsum , lead and salt are mined.
In the comarca there are numerous archaeological remains, e.g. B. of Celtic and Iberian settlements and cave paintings .
