La Ginebrosa is a Spanish municipality in the province of Teruel in the Autonomous Region of Aragón . It is located in the Sierra de la Ginebrosa around 31 kilometers south of Alcañiz in the south of the Comarca Bajo Aragón (Baix Aragó) in the predominantly Catalan-speaking area of Franja de Aragón . On January 1, 2019, the community had 194 inhabitants.

The abandoned town and castle Buñuel belong to the municipality, which derives its name from the juniper .
history
The place, first mentioned in 1272, has belonged to the Order of Calatrava since the Reconquista . In 1291, Blasco d'Alagón received it as a loan.
language
The Catalan dialect (Parlar d'Aiguaiva) spoken here and in the municipalities of Torrevelilla , Aguaviva and La Cañada de Verich has some peculiarities.
