Roques-Hautes is a former French commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône . Today it belongs to the municipality of Beaurecueil .

geography

Roques-Hautes is to the north of what is now Beaurecueil. The settlement is located on the D 17. From there a path begins to the Croix de Provence , a cross almost on the summit of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire . There is also the Forêt Départementale de Roques-Hautes , a larger forest area of ​​the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. Its area is just under 650 hectares. It houses some prehistoric sites. Roques-Hautes is passed by a Roman aqueduct.

Duration

Originally Roques-Hautes was a hamlet dependent on Le Thoronet . In 1790 Roques-Hautes became an independent municipality. Their area was put at 373 hectares. It initially belonged to the canton of Vauvenargues, from 1801 to the canton of Trets and the arrondissement of Aix . In 1827 Roques-Hautes was incorporated into Beaurecueil.
