Rosamund Gilmore

Rosamund Gilmore (born June 1, 1955 in Esher ) is an English choreographer and director .

Life

Gilmore studied first at the Elmhurst School for Dance in Camberley and then with John Cranko in Stuttgart . Then she worked as a dancer in Augsburg , Kassel and Bonn . In 1979 she founded the “Laokoon Dance Group” with the composer Franz Hummel , which was one of the most successful dance theater groups of the 1980s . From 1990 onwards, Gilmore worked increasingly as an opera director at numerous well-known theaters, including Wiesbaden , Frankfurt , Bremen and the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz in Munich . In 1986 she was the director of the dance film "Bluebeard".

Gilmore was nominated twice for the German Theater Prize FAUST: in 2007 for the premiere in Bremen of “No Silence Except that of the Wind” by Sidney Corbett and in 2009 for the world premiere of Franz Hummel's opera “Der Richter und seine Henker”. In 2010 she staged the Messiah for the Domstufen Festival in Erfurt , and in the 2012/13 season at the Leipzig Opera, Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen .
