Roseanna Elizabeth Vitro (born February 28, 1951 in Hot Springs , Arkansas ) is an American jazz singer .

Roseanna Vitro began her career as a singer in Houston in the 1970s, interpreting blues and rock songs. There she had a two-year engagement in the Green Room Club , from which a weekly radio program was broadcast. In 1980 she moved to New York City , where she worked at Lionel Hampton . Roseanna Vitro then recorded her first solo album in 1982 with Listen Here (on the Texas Rose Label), on which she was accompanied by jazz greats such as Kenny Barron , Buster Williams and Ben Riley ; she interpreted standards such as It Could Happen to You , You Go to My Head and Black Coffee . She then gained artistic recognition with her recordings in the 1990s, such as Softly (1993), with Fred Hersch and George Coleman and Passion Dance (1994) with Kenny Werner , Gary Bartz , Christian McBride and Elvin Jones . In 2000 she recorded an album dedicated to pianist Bill Evans , on which she was accompanied by Allen Farnham , Eddie Gomez and Fred Hersch.
