Rosemarie Philomena Sebek (born December 22, 1939 in Vienna ), pseudonym Philomena , is an Austrian author of novels, poems and journalistic texts as well as a painter.

Life

After graduating from high school , she studied at the University of World Trade and then worked as an advertising assistant and copywriter . In 1964 she married the painter and free jazz musician Claus Mayrhofer Barabbas . There are three daughters from this marriage. From 1971 she was the business editor at Jupiter Verlag. The first exhibitions of her pictures took place in Vienna and at Potzneusiedl Castle in Burgenland .

From 1977 to 1984 she lived as an organic farmer and milk sheep farmer in the municipality of Hofamt Priel . During this time, she co-founded the literary association "The Ram hook" and had exhibitions in Persenbeug , Ybbs , Amstetten and the Minor Castle by Jörg Mauthe .

In 1985 Rosemarie Philomena Sebek returned to Vienna and in the following years worked as an editor, from 1995 as deputy editor-in-chief of the technical journal of the Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering "e & i - electrical engineering and information technology". Since her retirement in 2000 she has devoted herself more to writing.

Claus Mayrhofer Barabbas died in Australia in January 2009 . Rosemarie Philomena Sebek took on the task of working through the artistic work of the father of her children. In connection with this, she also pursued the search for “Big Bang”, the almost 200 m² monumental painting by the artist that was considered lost. It was finally found in the second basement of the Vienna Künstlerhaus with the help of Berthold Ecker, head of the visual arts department of the City of Vienna , and exhibited in the Künstlerhaus in spring 2013. For the exhibition of “Big Bang”, the cultural department of the City of Vienna published a catalog with texts by Rosemarie Philomena Sebek.

At the same time as working through the artistic work of Claus Mayrhofer Barabbas, Rosemarie Sebek wrote the autobiographical novel “He called me Wardi”, which, like “The Islamic Tachists of the Red Apple. Vienna 1963–1964 ”was published by Edition Mokka, a publisher in Vienna. Wardi is the Arabic word for rose. The autobiographical novel includes a. Reports of numerous encounters with well-known personalities from the Austrian art scene in the 1960s and 1970s. Furthermore, the author tells of a woman's life with all its ups and downs. At the same time, the book is a contemporary document whose arch spans from 1939 to 2012.

As a result, Rosemarie Philomena Sebek published further books and numerous essays.
