features

The rose verbena is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 40 centimeters. The hairy stem is square. The opposite leaves are hairy. The approximately 3 cm long and wide leaf blade is irregularly toothed, lobed, pinnate or pinnate. The wide petiole is up to 3 cm long.

Terminal inflorescences are formed. The hairy bracts are 9 mm long, 2 mm wide and thus usually shorter than the calyx. The hermaphrodite flowers are fivefold. The five wire-haired and glandular-haired sepals are fused tubular. The calyx tube has a length of 8 mm and a diameter of 1.5 mm; it ends in uneven purple calyx lobes that are about 2 mm long. The five petals are fused Roehrig; the corolla tube is about 2 cm long. The corolla lobes are 9 mm long and 2 mm wide. The crown has a diameter of 10 to 15 millimeters. There is only a circle with four stamens that are fused with the corolla tube near its center and do not protrude from it. The smooth, white stamens up to 1 mm long. The greenish anthers are 7 mm long. The green, smooth ovary is four-lobed and 7 mm long. The smooth greenish-white stylus is up to 1.7 cm long, does not protrude from the corolla tube and ends in an unequal two-lobed scar. The flowering period extends from July to October.
