Ross Levine

Ross Levine (born April 16, 1960 in New York City , New York ) is an American economist and professor at the University of California, Berkeley .

His main areas of work are international finance , financial regulation and economic development . Levine is an advisor to several national banks , the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund .

Life

Levine earned a Masters degree from Cornell University , Ithaca in 1982 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles . He received his first professorship in 1997 at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville . This was followed by professorships at the University of Minnesota , Minneapolis (1999), Brown University in Providence (2005) and the University of California, Berkeley (2012).
