Ross Venus (born April 28, 1994 in Solihull ) is a British ice hockey player who is under contract with Coventry Blaze in the Elite Ice Hockey League . In the summer of 2018 he played for the Canterbury Red Devils in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League .

Career

Ross Venus has played for Coventry Blaze since the beginning of his career , for which he was already active as a 12-year-old in the British U16 league and later also in the U18 league. In the U16 league he also came to appearances for the competitor Mercian Menace. At the age of 16, he made his debut in the Elite Ice Hockey League in 2010 , in which he has since been active for the team from the West Midlands . Only in the 2011/12 season he was temporarily loaned to the Telford Tigers from the lower-class English Premier Ice Hockey League . With Coventry he won the EIHL playoffs in 2015, where he scored the decisive 3-0 in the 4-2 final victory over the Sheffield Steelers . He bridged the 2018 summer break with the Canterbury Red Devils in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League .

International

In the junior division, Venus was on the ice for Great Britain at the U18 World Championships 2012 in Division II and the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2013 and 2014 .

In the British men's national team , Venus was used for the first time in February 2016 in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang . In April of the same year he took part in the 2016 World Cup in Division I.
