The Bloodfin Tetra ( Aphyocharax anisitsi , Syn. : Aphyocharax rubripinnis , Aphyocharax rubropinnis , Aphyocharax affinis , Aphyocharax ipacarayensis ) is in South America beheimateter swimming toy fish of tetras. The shoaling fish in some situations can grow up to 5 cm long.

Occurrence

The redfin tetra occur naturally in the Río Paraná and its tributaries. The Paraná is the largest river in South America after the Amazon. It arises in central Brazil from the confluence of the Rio Paranaíba and Rio Grande and flows into the Rio de la Plata after the confluence with the Uruguay, where it flows through Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

Keeping and care

The peaceful animals are popular aquarium fish , mostly in the middle and upper water zone. They do not have any special requirements for water quality and are also relatively easy to breed. However, it must be taken into account that the free spawners are also spawning predators, so the parent animals should therefore be caught after spawning.
