action
“More often than you think, the elderly long for the days of their youth, while the youth can hardly wait to get old. But occasionally the longings of these two generations come together in a way that we will never fully understand and that is exactly how the relationship between little Little Red Riding Hood and his grandmother is, ”with these words this fairy tale film begins.
The grandmother sews a red hooded coat for her little granddaughter, who from then on is only called “Little Red Riding Hood”. The little girl is very happy about the beautiful present. Some time has passed and Little Red Riding Hood baked a chocolate cake with her mother and the mother also made a hearty soup for Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother. The old woman was sick, but is now on the mend. Little Red Riding Hood goes to see grandmother with the basket full of delicacies and good advice from her mother. The mother says she should stay on the path and not talk to strangers. Little Red Riding Hood promises it. On the way through the forest a little fawn suddenly stands sobbing at the edge of the path. Little Red Riding Hood asks why it is crying. It thinks it has forgotten its mother's birthday. Little Red Riding Hood suggests that she should bring her mother's flowers as an excuse, then everything would be fine. Together they pick a nice bouquet, the fawn thanks Little Red Riding Hood and jumps away. Soon after, the little girl meets a thrush who can sing beautifully but is afraid of flying. Little Red Riding Hood encourages the little bird to give it a try, as he can fly back to his family as a reward. And actually he dares. Out of gratitude he teaches Little Red Riding Hood to whistle. Before he flies away, he says that the child should whistle, if it is in danger, then he will come flying. On her way to her grandmother, the girl comes across the hunter without realizing that the wolf has disguised himself as such. The “hunter” even explicitly warns Little Red Riding Hood about the wolf. Little Red Riding Hood also helps a beaver family on the go. The beavers hope that one day they will be able to return the favor for the child's help. Shortly before the child has reached the grandmother's house, they are approached by an “old man” who asks for something to eat because he is so terribly hungry. Little Red Riding Hood tells him about his grandmother and gives him a piece of the homemade cake. The “old man” asks pretty much how to get to the grandmother and suddenly runs off after describing the child in good faith. Little Red Riding Hood is surprised that an “old man” can still run so fast.
When he arrives at his grandmother's house, he knocks on the door and pretends to be “Little Red Riding Hood”, whereupon the grandmother says: “Just press the handle, I'm so weak, I can hardly get up.” When Little Red Riding Hood arrives, he is lying as Grandmother disguised Wolf in bed and has the child prepare tea with honey for her. He prevents Little Red Riding Hood from putting the food they brought with them into the pantry without giving a reason. All of this seems strange to Little Red Riding Hood, including the appearance of “Grandmother”. The child anxiously asks why her eyes, tongue and mouth are so big. With the last question, Little Red Riding Hood gets the frightening answer: "So that I can eat you better." Horrified, the child runs into the garden and the wolf in clothes after the grandmother. Little Red Riding Hood always runs in circles so that the wolf that runs after it gets dizzy, then the child swings on the swing and whistles for the thrush. The wolf wants to push Little Red Riding Hood off the swing, but gets it full in the face due to the vibration and falls over. When he starts again, the thrush comes with a flock of birds, all of which peck his fur. The wolf tries to escape, not paying attention to a rope that the fawn and its mother have stretched, stumbles over it and flies in a high arc into the water, which flows into a waterfall at this point. Little Red Riding Hood thanks the animals and then quickly runs back into the house to look for her grandmother. The child finds the old lady in the pantry. Grandmother and granddaughter have a lot to talk about over a piece of cake. Little Red Riding Hood has learned that you can't believe everything and should trust your own eyes more. All of this goes through her head on the way home to her mother, but she is also happy about the animals that have helped her and become friends. Back home, she hugs her mother tenderly.
