The red-throated warbler ( Sialia sialis ) is a medium-sized songbird belonging to the thrush family.

features

The 18 cm long red-throated hut warbler is bright blue on the top, chestnut brown on the throat, chest and flanks and white on the belly and rump. The female is much paler and has a larger white belly area.

The bird breeds twice a year in the north and three times in the south. The female builds a simple, bowl-shaped nest in a nest box or a tree hole.   • S. s. meridionalis Dickey & van Rossem , 1930 - This subspecies occurs in El Salvador , Honduras and northern Nicaragua .
  • S. s. caribaea Howell, TR , 1965 - The range of this subspecies extends over the east of Honduras to the northeast of Nicaragua.
