The Roughley Burn is a watercourse in the Scottish Borders , Scotland . It arises as Leys Burn on White Knowe and flows south until it has passed under the former railway line at Riccarton Junction , where it turns west. At the confluence of the Laidlehope Burn it turns again to the south and flows up to its confluence with the Hermitage Water at the hamlet of Shaws .
