Roy is a city in Weber County in the US state of Utah .
history
Settlement began in 1873 as one of the last settlements in the area. The post office was opened in 1894. In the first few years the name of the settlement changed several times. When the son of a local teacher died, his first name was chosen as the name of the place. In 1937, Roy became a city. During the Second World War , the place grew because military facilities were adjacent. Even today there is an important base of the United States Air Force not far to the southeast .
