Rubén Chávez (* 1953 in Torreón , Coahuila ; † October 3, 2013 ibid), also known by the nickname El Gato (Eng. The Cat ), was a Mexican football player in the position of goalkeeper and later goalkeeping coach at his home club Santos Laguna .
Life
"El Gato" Chavez began his professional career with his hometown club CF Laguna , for whom he made his debut in the Mexican professional league in a home game of the 1973/74 season against Club America were diluted 1: ended the first
In 1975 he moved to Club Universidad de Guadalajara , with whom he was runner-up in the Mexican league in the 1975/76 and 1976/77 seasons.
After a total of eight seasons in the service of the Leones Negros , Chavez moved to another university club in 1983 and ended his active career in the 1983/84 season at Club UANL .
Shortly before his 60th birthday, Chavez died of cardiac arrest .
