Rubén Palazuelos García (born April 11, 1983 in Santander ) is a Spanish football player who is primarily used in defensive midfield.
Football career
Palazuelos began his career with his home club Racing de Santander , but never made it to the first team. He spent his first professional season in the third Spanish division with UD Lanzarote and CF Palencia before moving to Gimnástica de Torrelavega in 2006 .
For Torrelavega, however, Palazuelos did not play a single official game, and was loaned to the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki in the 2006/07 season. The following summer, Palazuelos signed with the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian on July 31, 2007 after the player had bought himself out of his contract with Gimnástica de Torrelavega for about 300,000 euros .
Palazuelos made his debut for his new club in a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen in August 2007 and scored his first goal for Hearts against Falkirk in a 2-1 away defeat at Falkirk Stadium. In 2011 he went back to his Spanish homeland to Deportivo Alavés , only to leave after a year and move to Bulgaria to Botew Plovdiv . Honka Espoo from Finland signed him in early 2013 . He reached the runner-up with his team in the 2013 season. In early 2014, Yeovil Town took him from the English Football League Championship under contract. With his team he was relegated at the end of the 2013/14 season . In summer 2014 he moved to Ermis Aradippou in Cyprus. At first he was a regular in midfield, but was later not taken into account. In January 2015 he was hired by Ross County in the Scottish Premier League . After a few weeks he was injured and was only given brief missions as a result.
In 2015 Palazuelos returned to Spain, where he CD Guijuelo in the Segunda División B took them under contract. In the summer of 2016 he went to Real Avilés in the Tercera División . A year later he returned to Gimnástica de Torrelavega. With the team, he rose to the Segunda División B in 2018.
