Rubber bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rubberbridge is a card game that, unlike tournament bridge, is played more in private. Rubber bridge is therefore often played for a small stake and, unlike tournament bridges, success depends heavily on the distribution of cards. It takes four players and 52 cards to play a game. Bidding and the course of the game do not differ from classic bridge and are therefore not explained here.

Rules of the game

Main article: Bridge scoring

The aim of the rubber bridge game is to win a so-called rubber , two full games, together with your partner . In bridge jargon, a full game is also called some . A full game is deemed to have been won if one has achieved a total of 100 points on balance either in one game or in several sub-games by fulfilling the previously maxed out contracts . If a partnership in a rubber has fulfilled some, it is now in the danger zone ( Belle or vulnerable ), in which the premiums for falling and double / recontrolled overstitches are doubled. Those partners who were able to win a rubber receive additional bonus points. There are also bonuses for certain cards that you owned ( honors ) and for additional tricks. If you lose the promised contract, you do not receive any minus points, but the opponents receive points for each trick not fulfilled (a so-called faller ).

To count the points, the players record the points they have achieved on a bridge block with two vertical columns (one for each pairing), which are labeled with we and they , and a horizontal line in the middle (to distinguish bonus and game points). The popular and fulfilled key points are entered below the line, the additional and bonus points above.

It can happen that a pair of players, even though they have won the rubber, cannot be determined as the winner due to the bonus points achieved and must pay for any agreed stakes. The cover letter at the rubber bridge means that you do not need a permanent partner. Quite the opposite: it is often agreed that the pairings will change after one or two rubbers over the course of the season so that everyone can play against everyone.

Key points: Over the line, the actual (including overtricks.) Stitches plus bonus points for full games, Rubber, counterpoint / redouble listed etc., and the opponent may reward points for unmet stitches. The bottom line is that only the irritated and fulfilled stitches are noted.

Value table : reference values for announced and fulfilled contracts per trick

The bonus points for Faller depend on the risk situation of the declarer:

Number of fallers Vulnerable Non-vulnerable
Not doubled Double Reconsolidated Not doubled Double Reconsolidated
1. Faller 100 200 400 50 100 200
2nd and 3rd Faller 300 600 200 400
Every other faller 300 600 300 600

Additional rewards :

  • 4 honors in one hand (ace, king, queen, jack) 100 points
  • 5 honors on one hand (ace, king, queen, jack, tens) 150 points
  • 4 aces on one hand in the SA game 150 points
  • Winning a rubber, opponent has 500 points in a game
  • Winning a rubber, opponent no game 700 points.

Incomplete rubber

If a rubber - for whatever reason - is not finished, the following bonuses apply, which are also used to calculate the individually calculated games in the tournament bridge:

  • For a game won in an incomplete rubber, the party concerned receives an additional 300 points.
  • For an address in an incomplete batch, the party concerned receives an additional 100 [sic!] Points.

example

The example illustrates a possible course of a rubber:

  1. North-South offer 1 sans-atout (40 below) and achieve an overstitch (30 above)
  2. East-West offer and fulfill 3 hearts (90 below)
  3. East-West bid 3 diamonds, are doubled and end with two fallers (300 for the opponent, above)
  4. North-South bid and fulfill 2 sans-atouts (70 below), thus fulfilling a full game with the previous 40 points. A new horizontal line is drawn, 90 from east-west achieved so far are canceled and crossed the line. NS is now vulnerable .
  5. East-West bid and meet 6 of spades (180 below), making the game full. The gourmet bonus is credited (500 above). There are also additional points for the honors (100 above). OW are now also vulnerable. A new line is drawn.
  6. North-South bid and meet 4 spades. This is the second full game, you win the rubber and get 500 points for it. The whole game ended with 1060 for NS and 870 for OW.
